The flag of the Kingdom of Thailand.
Formerly known as Siam, the Kingdom of Thailand is known by the United Nations as a constitutional monarchy.
Thailand was founded in 1238 A.D and now contains 76 provinces. The King of Thailand, King Phumiphon Adunyadet (sometimes spelt Bhumibol), also acts as the Cheif of State. Adunyadet has been ruler of Thailand since June 1946 and yet the country still remains free of dictatorship. A reason for this is the multi-layered leadership typically of Spartan style governments. Thailand's head of government is Prime Minister Abhisit Wetchachiwa who is supported by his three deputy prime ministers: KORBSAK Saphawasu; SANAN Kachornprasat; SUTHEP Thueaksuban all who have been in power since 2008.
